WEST COVINA, Calif.—This week, North-West College graduate Paola Alvarez was selected as a 2015 CAPPS (California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools) Scholarship winner. Paola Alvarez is a graduate of the Massage Therapy Program at the West Covina Campus.
Lisa Fuerst, Vice President of North-West College, presented an emotional Ms. Alvarez with a check for $3,000.00. Paola went on to thank both her instructors and her fellow students, and the staff of the College who helped her to create a flexible schedule and financial aid package that she needed in order to graduate. Paola also expressed that she initially began as a student in the Dental Assistant Program at North-West College, but when she felt that program wasn’t the right fit for her, North-West College provided her with options and helped guide her towards the Massage Therapy Program which she immediately loved and found to be the perfect career for her.
Lisa Fuerst congratulated Ms. Alvarez, who was one of the selected candidates for the CAPPS scholarship, calling her “a big inspiration to many other people.”
Founded in 1985, CAPPS is the only California State Association representing the many diverse kinds of Private Postsecondary Schools in California. CAPPS has a membership of more than 300 Institutions.
CAPPS has been awarding scholarships to students of promise for over 20 years, students like Paola Alvarez who cried when she received the scholarship check from CAPPS, stating, “I’d like to thank the College for this amazing opportunity. Not many of us have the privilege to have something like this to help myself and my family to pay this (her loans) off.”
North-West College is exceptionally proud of Paola Alvarez who has inspired the entire College with her passion, her work ethic, and her immense gratitude.
