Leadership Role Reflects SEC’s Continued Dedication to Quality Growth

WEST COVINA, Calif.—As part of Success Education College’s (SEC) commitment to growing its system of colleges while continuing to offer high quality training programs, SEC recently announced Jeffrey Akens has joined the SEC team as its new Corporate Director of Operations. Former President of Carrington College, Akens has spent more than two decades in private-sector education and brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

“We are thrilled that Jeff is joining us here at Success Education Colleges,” SEC President Mitchell Fuerst shared. “Having him as part of our Senior Leadership Team will give SEC more bandwidth to focus on new initiatives and Quality Growth, which will continue to propel the organization forward.”

Akens explained that it was SEC’s commitment to students that drew him to the organization, sharing that his 23-year-career in private-sector education has instilled in him a passion to see students succeed. “It’s exciting to work for a system of colleges that shares my dedication to students,” he said. “Success Education Colleges works hard to ensure their students have the support they need to complete their program and go on to change their lives for the better.”

As Corporate Director of Operations, Akens will work closely with several of the Colleges’ Campus Directors, offering valuable training and support. Akens’ past roles have equipped him well for this new position and will provide him ample experience from which to draw upon.

“I got my start working in Career Services,” he explained, “but then I worked as a Campus Director myself for eight years—something I know will impact how I carry out my new responsibilities at SEC.”

For Akens, it all comes down to the students and the Team Members serving them. “We are first and foremost here for our students, but I really believe that a quality school group has to start with a focus on the Team Members,” Akens explained. “That helps us create the kind of culture that reinforces the idea that everyone is here to help our students and each other.”
