North-West College to Host Virtual Commencement Ceremony to Honor More Than 630 Graduates

Event Underscores College’s Dedication to Celebrating Students’ Achievements Amidst Pandemic

WEST COVINA, Calif.—In an effort to mark the achievements of hundreds of graduates who completed their education in the middle of the COVID-19 outbreak, North-West College (NWC) plans to host a virtual Commencement Ceremony on Friday, July 17 at 6 p.m. More than 630 graduates, along with thousands of their family members, friends, and Instructors, will be able to join the event as they celebrate their incredible accomplishments.

“While I had hoped to shake these students’ hands as they crossed the graduation stage, this virtual Commencement does not, for a moment, diminish how proud I am of all their hard work,” explained NWC President Mitchell Fuerst. “They have responded to these challenging times with remarkable courage and compassion—values that have guided our College for more than five decades—and I am honored to welcome them to our alumni family.”

Students will have the opportunity to wear their cap and gown during the ceremony, which are being provided free of charge for this special event. Along with the presentation of graduates, the evening will also include a heartfelt message from President Fuerst. In addition, NWC is providing these individuals with a restaurant gift card for a family meal, also free of charge, so they can celebrate this milestone moment with their family while enjoying a meal together.

Many of these graduates were partway through their programs when COVID-19 forced the College to move classes online in March. Undeterred, these individuals demonstrated resilience and an unwavering drive to reach their educational goals—finishing their courses at home.

“These are extraordinary circumstances we are facing, but these are extraordinary individuals,” shared Fuerst. “Just as they have risen above the hardships of these past few months, I am confident they will continue to rise above any challenges they face in the health care field as they make a difference in the lives of their communities each and every day.”
